Frequently Asked Questions

We will add to this page as we learn of more questions from families.

What is the focus of the school? What types of students should apply?

Prospect Academy is designed for students who have learning differences, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, or those who might have similar profiles or learning styles. It will also serve students who do not have a diagnosis but are struggling learners. We believe all students will benefit from the Prospect Academy teaching model and that, as a result, over time, we will see many diverse students, including those diagnosed with a learning disability and those considered general education, come to our school.

Our mission is to educate students who learn differently and/or who have struggled in traditional school environments. We will create an environment where students feel safe physically, mentally, and emotionally.

How many students will you serve and in what grades?

Since we have delayed our opening to August 2022, we will review the school size and grade configuration for when we open. Eventually, the plan is to serve students in K-12.

Should we still enroll in our current school (or a new school we've found) even though we hope to attend Prospect Academy?

YES. Enroll your child as you normally would in their current school. Prospect Academy will now open in 2022. More information will become available as we get closer to finalizing plans.

Where will the school be located?

We have found a building near I70 and Kipling in Arvada. We are currently working to have the building surveyed by developers to determine available space.

Who are the school's founders?

Prospect Academy’s founders are parents and community members who live in Jefferson County. Most have children on the autism spectrum. Learn more about the founding Board of Directors here.

What can I do to help right now?

There are several ways you can help. We need families to help spread the word about Prospect Academy to other families with children who have learning differences. If you are on a Listserv or part of a Facebook group, please share this information there. That is where families are looking for help and information.

If you’d like to volunteer, we’d love to have you! Please see the opportunities available on our committees.

Is there a cost to attend Prospect Academy?

Prospect Academy is a tuition-free, public charter school.
